Football for Hope Lighting Projects:
Great Lakes Energy has partnered with Phaesun to install lighting systems for two football grounds located in East Africa: One in Burundi and in Rwanda.
The inception of the Football for Hope lighting was when we were asked to light the playing field on the Esperance Youth Center in Kigali Rwanda using solar street lights.
The Rwandan project was our first solar street lighting encounter which equipped us with some new experience. This gained experience helped us do a very quick and easy install of a similar project for Kabondo-Giriyuja Youth Centre in Burundi.
The Football for Hope program, sponsored by FIFA, is not only a game changer but also a life changer for hundreds of children that are orphaned and helpless. We at Great Lakes Energy feel privileged to be a part of this program.
Although our main focus is solar power for healthcare, these two projects have created a broad impact on youth empowerment through solar energy.
We acknowledge the great collaboration with Phaesun, the FIFA team behind Football for Hope, Terre des Hommes, Esperance, Giriyuja, and the brilliant architects we met at each Football for Hope site.
Great Lakes Energy is set to install more of these systems in the future!
